The Creative Vibes team has done another sterling job in compiling the works of some of Australia’s leading dance/hip-hop artists. It has already generated much radio interest and is sure to play an active role in the clubs. There are particular unique Australian sounds to the album, and that’s good in setting it apart from any old compilation. The artists bring out their local influences cleverly. The sublime vocals of Vassy combine with electronic maestros Ubin to open with ‘Red Room’ and some popular artists such as Koolism and Maya Jupiter follow it. Maya’s ‘Try’na Bust’ has already been a radio favourite and this track was produced by the talented Wicked Beat Sound System. The Bird is an energetic live act and they present two tracks on this compilation, one of which is the wonderfully downtempo ‘Inner Peace’. One of Maya Jupiter’s label mates, Ebony Williams shows her talent as an MC also. She is indicative of the refreshing sounds that Creative Vibes has to offer. It’s a great CD to represent the rest of the summer season.
