:: Velure - Care For Fading EmbersVelureThe songs on this album are for those quieter moments in contemplating certain passages of life. It is the debut album for the Victorian band. They have grown substantially from being discovered and then awarded a touring grant. Built around the subtle, smooth vocals of Lynnelle Morgan, we are given a good mix of programmed beats, the attractive accordion, guitar, bass, and various synthesisers. It all seems to blend pretty cohesively and has the necessary emotion through the thought provoking lyrics. It’s worth pointing out that the band completed this album in an emotional state following the death of Norwegian producer Erik Wolkoff during the recording process. Accordingly, the album is dedicated to his memory. Listen for the stripped-back poignant moments, the string, trip-hop, dub sections, and the soft, atmospheric touches, to which Lynnelle excels on vocals. The downbeat nature of the album will lend itself strongly for the right times and the overall good quality, for a debut effort, should ensure continued growth for this band. | ![]() www.velure.com.au |
