Very Unique Existence

Despite the unnecessarily long band name, Very Unique Existence (VUE) has a reasonable sound. Sure it‘s a straight up, meat and two veg style brand of rock and it never pushes or challenges the listener, but there's still enough here to enjoy. Their EP 'Everyone’ won‘t stand them out from the zillions of other acts performing rock but it gives these four lads from Byron Bay a good platform to work from. 'Take It Easy’ is an upbeat, rocking tune, ‘Pop Song’ exactly that, fairly light, bouncy and easy to listen to but it‘s but lead single 'Looking Down’, that gives a better indication of what VUE is all about. It‘s nicely paced, well constructed and beautifully layered - a solid, fairly impressive song. They hit their rock'n'roll straps in 'Roll On’ which reminded me a lot of Queensland rock act Rollerball, while closer ‘Starlight’ is a beautifully stripped back tune. This EP won't set the world alight and nor should it, but it will make a few people happy and that's all a band can ever ask for.
