:: Wayne Cornell Jr & His Orchestra - Cover Story

Wayne Cornell Jr & His Orchestra

Ten-piece swing big bands are a rare thing these days, and it‘s a real pity because they offer up such variety. Thank God for Wayne Cornell Jr who has taken the past and revamped it into something totally hip for a new generation! Cleverly covering some great Aussie tunes on his album 'Cover Story’, there‘s some incredible, amazing renditions such as the Choirboys 'Run To Paradise’, Men At Work‘s 'Down Under’ to even AC/DC‘s hard rock anthem 'Back In Black’. He has successfully transformed each track, turning them into very different, totally unique songs that sound like nothing you‘ve ever heard before! They really have to be listened to. Forgetting the likes of the Buble's and Callum's, Cornell offers up a completely different take, which I'm sure will win the reluctant Aussie male over. But it's not all covers as his sassy, energetic tracks 'Hip’ and ‘Don't Tell Me Don't’ attest. Fast gaining a reputation as an entertainer's entertainer, audience response (and venue, record company) interest is growing at an enormous rate, and why not when the music's impossible not to love, dance, swing and sing to.
