Ignoring the fact that the first song (‘Beverely Hills’) sounds like a ripoff of the Steve Miller Band‘s 'The Joker’, Weezer‘s latest album 'Make Believe’ is the same, tried and tested release we've come to expect from them. No longer that relevant or vital to the music scene, Weezer have fallen for the mistake of making similar sounding songs for similar sounding albums. The buying public have wised up and moved on to more exciting and “original” acts. A Weezer album really is a fairly predictable affair. Release a song to capture peoples imagination, make a fun and interesting film clip to keep the hype going, do a few promo's to help sell the album, count the money rolling in, then leave and repeat steps 1-4 in another country. This way you make as much as you can before the public have a had a chance to realise they've been duped. In other words - nothing to see here folks, move along!
