That dude that didn’t win Idol – yes him – has released his debut album and despite my reservations concerning all things Idol I have to admit it’s catchy, commercial; exactly what you would expect from an artist riding on the coattails of the success of a phenomenon that churns out artists faster than an assembly line ever could, and backed by a record company with money to burn. The tracks written by Carr exclusively (‘Love Is An Animal’, ‘East Coast’ and ‘The Way The World Looks’) stand out from the radio friendly co-written additions, ‘Feels Like Woah’ and ‘You’ receiving considerable airplay. The album as a whole has a country, upbeat vibe complimenting Carr’s voice perfectly. There is nothing wrong with this album but it has been done before and doesn’t stand out as anything special.
