White Buffalo

He describes himself as a “Big white motherf**ker” but really he‘s more of a gentle giant. White Buffalo (aka Jake Smith), hailing from Southern California, is a singer/songwriter who writes from the heart. Inspired by Bob Dylan (aren't they all?) and Elliot Smith, The Buff is one hell of a troubadour. His songs are full of passion, spite and sentiment, reeking of moodiness and temperament. On tracks like 'The Matador’ he sounds more like a menacing Nick Cave than his influences, with the music working as a deep, dark soundtrack. To show he‘s not all about suffering and pain, the tune 'Devil Is A Woman’ is a lot more snappier with an uplifting beat and feel. The six songs here on his self-titled EP, indicate in the Buff, will be around to soothe and torment, and that can only be a good thing.
