:: Will Smith - Lost And Found

Will Smith

It doesn‘t bode well from the beginning for the former Fresh Prince. This album opens with his own interpretation of the TV cartoon theme Spiderman. It was like “What tha?!?” And from there it goes from bad to worse. Will Smith had some relevance many, many years ago but ever since stepping into film his musical career has taken a huge nose dive. Lead single 'Switch’ is about the best thing this album has going for it and even that sounds like it was lifted from the year 1995, not 2005. His rhymes aren‘t sharp (or interesting), the beats are bland and tame by today's comparison and generally this album is very lacklustre. It's like Michael Jackson's comeback attempt at pop - only this is hip hop! If that line doesn't stop you cold, then you're a glutton for punishment. Honestly, where does he come up with this tripe? In 'Mr. Niceguy’ he nursery-rhyme raps, “People dissing Will sat on a wall/ People dissing Will had a great fall/ All the king‘s horses and all the king's men, couldn't put their careers together again.” You said it Will. And in 'Ms. Holy Roller’ the choice of lyrics is just plain weak. Seriously, those five year old’s I see spitting out lines out front of their local kindergarten attack it with more venom and spite. It‘s no wonder he stepped into movies, maybe Will saw the writing on the wall… or is that where he got many of the ideas for this album from? For a new album, 'Lost And Found’ sounds stale and dated!
