They are one of the livelier bands around Australia at the moment, making their notice with a brilliant single ‘Walking Away’, which followed the promise shown in earlier EPs. It’s one of the best Australian songs this year. The band’s development continues with this fine album. Throughout the last twelve months they have toured with the likes of Stereophonics and The Black Keys, cementing a healthy position in local music circles. This album shows 67 Special exploring several pop styles. They have their own style and their work has come across pretty sharply. Apart from the above-mentioned single, the catchy tones and hooks of ‘Boys & Girls’, and ‘Pretty Mess’ signify an above-average standard that is ready for expansion. The live act serves them well also – flamboyant and generally tight. Overall, a fresh, inviting sound by a band heading in the right direction.
