A very expressive and soulful new record from Yael Naim, a Jewish singer-songwriter who is based in France. She has a pure voice amongst gorgeous arrangements. The atmosphere of the music is set to the use of cello, mellotron and brass sections, but they happily sit in the background to the serenity and beauty of Yael‘s vocals. She brings melancholy and joyful moments, even incredibly covering Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’. The track ‘New Soul’ is a highlight, a song that woos an optimistic outlook. A terrific listen overall.
