:: Young Guns - All Our Kings Our Dead

Young Guns

You’ve probably heard a million times “these guys will be your new favourite band”. Well, I’ll be the million and first person to say it, because believe me English band Young Guns could well be your new favourite band. This is one amazing album. When the great sounding alternative rock sound of ‘Sons Of Apathy’ you’ll be asking yourself ‘where have these guys been hiding?’, and that is quickly followed by ‘Crystal Clear’ that simply has to be one of the best rock tracks of the year. The epic sound of ‘Meter & Verse’ reveals why these guys have been asked to open for Bon Jovi in the past. The smooth ‘The Weight Of The World’ sounds a lot rawer on the Mirrors EP section of the album while the heavier sounds of ‘D.O.A.’ makes you realise there is a little more to these guys when you scratch the surface. The instrumental sections of ‘Stitches’ shows that Young Guns have genuine talent while Gustav Wood’s vocals on ‘Winter Kiss’ will blow you as well. Even ordinary songs like ‘Elements’ sound amazing when performed by musicians this talented. The faster pace of both ‘After The War’ and ‘Endless Grey’ brings another dimension to All Our Kings Are Dead while the poetic lyrics of ‘At The Gates’ will have you placing it on repeat. The main part of the album then closes with ‘Beneath The Waves’, another amazing track that sees the boys mash up the pace with ease. Tacked onto the end of the album is their Mirrors EP. As mentioned earlier the tracks hear sound rawer but are no way second rate… the highlights being the melody on ‘Daughter Of The Sea’ and the wonderful harmony of ‘There Will Be Rain’. All Our Kinds Are Dead is a must have. This is a sensational album that reveals Young Guns as one of the finds of 2011!
