With many more acts are yet to be announced, Carnival of Suburbia cements Oakleigh’s place as a hub of live music performance. Emerging out of the so-called cultural “wastelands” of the south back in March 2010, Carnival of Suburbia rose like a flower in the desert to firmly establish itself as an iconic ten day annual event celebrating Melbourne’s suburban soul and culture. Suburbanites and citysiders alike flocked for tickets. Born from the need to fill the void of great music venues in the suburbs, Oakleigh’s Caravan Music Club has gone from strength to strength by showcasing quality national and international talent to music-starved local audiences. This 2nd annual instalment of the Carnival of Suburbia runs across the whole ten days of the 2012 Oakleigh Music Festival with headline acts getting the crowd moving each night at the Caravan Music Club. Stay tuned for the next line-up announcement, as yet more national and international acts prepare to make their way to the suburbs’ cultural hotspot that is Oakleigh.
