:: 2010 Darebin Music Feast

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

The 2010 Darebin Music Feast is proud to host a Music Market at the Northcote Town Hall on Friday September 3, featuring a variety of music related stalls and performances of some of the hottest tunes on the “Best of the Feast” stage. The market will precede the actual Darebin Music Feast that starts the following day.

The Darebin Music Feast Music Market is a celebration of music and the official opening event of the 2010 Darebin Music Feast. It provides an opportunity to listen to the sweet sounds of some of Melbourne’s finest musicians, sample some local music, get a CD signed, purchase some cool merchandise and kick the Music Feast off on a high note. It's a festival dedicated to song-writing and community music, in all its diverse forms, and an exciting, all-inclusive festival that is committed to the celebration of local music and dedicated to promoting the integral value of music to the community.

The Music Market will also feature performances from some of the artists featured during the 2010 festival on the “Best of the Feast” stage. Artists performing during the Music Market include Ajak Kwai, the Melbourne Ukulele Kollective and Goyim. Ajak is well known nationally for her soulful and distinctly Saharan voice which expresses heartfelt songs of love and hope for her homeland. Her deeply philosophical and global concerns are expressed in her heartfelt songs about freedom, peace, love, marriage and … cows, the foundation of Dinka life.

As well as performing at the Music Market, Ajak will also perform a separate concert for the Darebin Music Feast at the Northcote Town Hall on Sunday, September 5.
