The festival will be bursting with something for everyone - from chill-out music to high energy rhythms, vibrant culture and big talent.” “The support and the big names just keep coming,” she says. “We have some very high calibre and well-loved artists appearing on our program for the first time, like THE JOHN BUTLER TRIO who will be headlining Reggaetown World Music festival’s big day on Saturday September 11. And THE CAT EMPIRE, supported by the amazing MAMA KIN, who spearhead the inaugural Reggaetown World Music festival Splash Out Friday Night on September 10. Tiki Taane, embarked on his solo artist career in January 2007 and has gone from strength to strength, becoming one of New Zealand’s most popular and diverse award-winning artists renowned as much for his powerful live performances as he is for his anthems. He is sure to impress the Kiwi music lovers with his acoustic/solo/DJ set with DJ Sambora from Shapeshifter. Also to be featured at this year’s Reggaetown will be the mesmerising hip-hop flavours of LADI 6, fresh from a world tour. Punters will be able to groove to Noumea’s amazing YKSON, who have a feel like Ben Harper… only in French. And the wicked NEA COMBO DIFUZZION will be doing their full power Jamaican dancehall style set. The Festival has also just announced the inclusion of BLUE KING BROWN who return this year on the back of their new album, set for release in August, bringing their renowned Urban Roots Flava! KATCHAFIRE from New Zealand will be making their third trip to Reggaetown for lovers of some of the best reggae this hemisphere has to offer. World music lovers and Pacific Islanders will be excited by Reggaetown’s Island Music Showcase, also featuring rising PNG star WALLI PAZZI, of ‘Crazy Love’, and ‘Come Around’ fame.
