Welcome to the music section of Mediasearch. We aim to bring you the news that matters in events and information concerning the Australian and international music scene. Our website contains a Music Wrap (various events and happenings with bands, DJs, and other music issues. There are sections which comprise reviews of CDs and DVDs, live reviews, as well as artist interviews and festival news. A popular feature is the “What's On - national gig guide” section which has a listing of Australian and International artists touring each State. The database can be sorted in various ways. Dead Letter Chorus return with “Covered By Snow”, the first single from their forthcoming sophomore release. Having spent over 6 weeks touring Canada, Dead Letter Chorus land on Australian soil to take on their first headlining tour of 2010. The band comes home amidst large success in Canada where their previous record, The August Magnificent, was received with open arms inciting some critics to call them “the best band outside of Canada in the past 5 years” and “Australia’s answer to Arcade Fire”. “Covered By Snow” will be available as a limited edition 7” single and accompanying high quality digital download through ABC/Universal. The single release will feature a b-side written by the band’s Gabrielle Huber and their Canadian touring partners Two Hours Traffic. Gold Coast collective Operator Please have returned with their sophomore album ‘Gloves’. The band has spent twelve months pouring their heart and soul into a record that was largely self produced at a Byron Bay farm and in Amandah Wilkinson’s Gold Coast lounge room. The heavy metal music community was shocked recently by the tragic death of Slipknot bass guitarist Paul Gray. The 38-year-old was found dead in a hotel in Iowa. Gray, who was one of the original members of Slipknot when they formed in 1995, was expecting his first child with his wife Brenna. Prior to his death, Gray had been working on a project with metal supergroup Hail!, which featured members of Judas Priest and Sepultura. Sepultura issued a brief statement at the news to say, “RIP Paul Gray, we're shocked and very sad.” I have memories of seeing Slipknot play on their first tour of Australia ten years ago. They played Festival Hall to a packed, sweaty crowd and they delivered a blistering 50-minutes set. It was an incredible show and Paul Gray, as the band's Number 2 (every band member has a number) or “The Pig” endeared himself to the metal fans with his terrific bass playing. He worked on all four of Slipknot’s albums. He will be sorely missed. There are opportunities for advertising and sponsorship, especially to promote an event or artist. There is space available for such exposure. We can place logos, banners, buttons or promotional pictures in order to strengthen the impact of an artist and/or event.
