:: Ember Swift at the Corner Hotel, Richmond - January 04

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

One of the best things about music is observing the rapport that a performer has with a live audience. On her fifth tour of Australia in as many years, Canadian artist Ember Swift is one such person who has endeared herself into the hearts of her ever-growing fan base. She sings about political and social issues and has a wonderful sense of warmness in doing it. Her show this night was again riveting. She combines beautifully with band mates Lyndell Montgomery and Adam Bowman to provide her thoughts through song, with an occasional soaring voice and uplifting style.

Ember believes in her ideals and never sacrifices her integrity and position when delivering her message. The audience embraced the charm and musicianship that an independent woman like Ember sparks and, with several albums to her name now, she goes from strength to strength in building a family of friends and supporters. It was hard not to enjoy her performance. She stopped to tell little anecdotes about recent life and gave a charismatic display. The fans left the room enthralled by what they had seen. Ember and her band mates had given total entertainment and great value.
