:: Gorgi Quill CD Launch - Manchester Lane, Melbourne - August 2006By: Louise PreeceMany Australians might recognise Gorgi Quill as the travel reporter from Channel Nine’s Today Show. The young journalist has now revealed another depth to her persona as a talented singer. Gorgi launched her debut CD titled ‘Edward’ at Manchester Lane recently and it proved a winner as audiences listened in awe to her melodic voice. Channel Nine personality Steven Jacobs hosted the CD launch and several other TV friends turned up to support the star. Many of Gorgi’s family and friends also attended the launch, including her husband Justin. The CD, simply titled ‘Edward’, is a mix of melodic, gentle songs and covers, which Gorgi says are all “reflections of happy or sad moments in her life”. Gorgi says the CD is named after her late grandfather Edward and represents her “beautiful love” for him. With harmonious songs such as ‘Danny Boy’, ‘Secret Love’ and ‘Sunshine On My Shoulders’, Gorgi says some of her influences as a child were Eva Cassidy and John Denver. The songs were perceptibly chosen because of Gorgi’s emotional and sentimental attachment to them and her performance of them on the night was exceptional. Gorgi’s jazz band must also be complimented, who provided an excellent match to her voice, including violin, cello, and grand piano. Many of you won’t know that Gorgi’s talents also extend to performing in the theatrical hit “We Will Rock You” and the musical “Carousel”. She also has her own corporate band and ‘Edward’ appears to be another notch on her list of creative achievements. ‘Edward’ is out now and offers excellent classic tunes for those who prefer smooth and easy listening. |
