:: Jenny Wilson - Prince of Wales Hotel, St.Kilda - February 2007

Swedish popette Jenny Wilson brought with her a three piece band consisting of percussionist, guitarist and backing singer. Launching straight into songs from Love and Youth she focused on delivering a polishing, tight product which mimicked the production on the album entirely.

On her first visit to Australia, Wilson made the obligatory comment of koalas and kangaroos, commenting she hadn‘t seen any yet. Apart from occasional audience interaction it was business-like for this professional outfit. Once she had introduced her band, including guitarist Andreas, it was all systems go from one idiotic patron, obviously drunk and not at all interested in the show, who repeatedly yelled out the guitarist's name in true okker fashion which, I am sure, made audience members ashamed to be Australian. After a few 'shutup you idiot’, rants, including one from myself I might add, he piped down and the mildly embarrassed Wilson was able to focus on her music and not the moronic shouts coming from the back of the stage.

Fans wouldn't have been disappointed as Wilson would have played all or most of the songs from her recording, giving the audience more than enough songs to sing along to. In particular Bitter, No I Just Love to Complain and Let My Shoes Lead Me Forward were met with great fervour. Her attempt at getting the crowd to sing parts of Love and Youth wasn't a total failure, leaving them to pipe up moderately in the last chorus.
