:: QV’s 6th Summer Concert Series 2012By: Carmine PascuzziMelburnians are being reminded to make a special trip into the heart of the CBD in February to enjoy a free concert featuring some of the country’s hottest musical talent. The QV Summer Concert Series will be held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout February in QV Square, which will be transformed into a summertime oasis for the month, complete with soft green grass and super-comfy multi-coloured beanbags, making it perfect for lounging on balmy summer evenings or lazing on sunny afternoons. The Concert Series will be opened by local band Zoophyte featuring Andy Lee on February 3. Performers include the highly-acclaimed Deborah Conway, who has been a significant and eloquent contributor to Australian music for three decades, performing songs that chronicle the essential elements of life, love, loss, and memory. Also performing is Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist Nick Barker, who first rose to fame when forming Melbourne-based rock, power pop band Nick Barker and the Reptiles in the 1980s. The line-up also boasts Loon Lake, Jade MacCrae, Red Ink, Bonnie Anderson, Ronit, the Fauves, the Seabellies, The New RAah Trio, Mahalia Barnes, Nick Barker and the Blackeyed Susans. Lisa Fleming, General Manager, QV Melbourne said the QV Summer Concert Series is the perfect way for Melburnians to celebrate summer in their city. “It’s a wonderful atmosphere, sitting on the grass in a coloured bean bag enjoying the sun, in the middle of the bustling city. It’s also a great opportunity to support some of Melbourne’s best up and coming artists.” The QV Summer Concert Series will be held every Friday from 5.30pm-7.30pm and Saturday and Sundays from 2.00pm until 4.00pm during the month or February (from Friday February 3 to Sunday, February 26). Attendees are encouraged to keep an eye out for special Summer Concert Series offers and discounts from the more than 40 bars, cafes and restaurants in the QV precinct. While car parking at QV is only $10 for the day on weekends, the precinct is also easily accessible by tram (on Swanston St), bus (on Lonsdale St) and train (located across the road from Melbourne Central train station). QV Melbourne is on the corner of Swanston and Lonsdale streets in the city. TIMETABLE OF ENTERTAINMENT Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 |
