There’s so many new thing we’re going to see on this tour, and that’s all thanks to our new management. These things happen when you do a great record with a consistent line-up. It pays to maintain a consistency, because the fans feel better about it because they get to know the band, and they start trusting you. And the same goes for us. So there’s been no bloodshed and murder within the band in some time, so we’re starting to feel better about ourselves too! (laughs) Now all of a sudden we’re doing our first tour of Australia! We have never thought about changing our style or sound to please the media or record label to get sales or whatever. When we get together and start jamming, we always end up playing this kind of music. It’s always spontaneous, and not something that sounds like we really have it planned out."

Music Dish - Target traffic to your music website

27/12/2004

Everyone now knows that if you are an artist or you play in a band that it is imperative you have a website. It is now considered the norm and a nice place to refer existing and potential fans.

However, an artist website that sits in cyberspace and gets visited only after bands mention their web address on stage is a website that is not utilising the Internet's full potential. A poorly promoted website can be like a tree falling in the forest.

Stimulator - Seductive sounds

16/07/2004

With punk rock and pop influences from the 70s and 80s, Stimulator has achieved one of the really good indie records I’ve heard this year. The good thing about them is that they’ve modernised those influences with the understanding of today’s technology. Lots of attitude marks their self-titled debut album.

Despite growing up nearly half a continent away from the bands they were inspired by - the Black Crowes, Beck, Masters of Reality, and Radiohead are some obvious influences - the Dutch four-piece known as Cafebar 401 has gone beyond being yet another band that sounds like every other homogenised pop band.

Interview with Cavalera Conspiracy

21/03/2008

“I’ve been telling people that I think that there’s definitely a fire and a level of aggression that can be attributed to me playing with Igor again. It’s a gift man. There’s a definite chemistry that works there, and this kind of music that lends itself to that sort of passion. I question why that has to change? I wasn’t really interested in playing something that was something that we didn’t want to do. We could have definitely made a Brazilian jazz album, but that’s not what we’re about."

Music Dish - Marianne Kesler - the acoustic Madonna

09/10/2004

There are bands who focus on production, there are singers and bands who are occupied with finding radio hooks, and there are singer-songwriters who write from the inside and let success fall where it may. Marianne Kesler's new release, Green Room, is the latter (maybe with the pinch of “hooks” thrown in for self-satisfaction).

Music Dish - The Music Motorist

14/08/2004

We are reading how increasingly important it is for unsigned and independent recording artists to have professional third-party representation in the forms of record promoters and media publicists. Many artists, however, seem to believe that since it is an independent's music world today, technologically speaking, that promoting their music is somehow easier and that they can, indeed, go it alone, and all the way.
