:: Spotlight :: 2005 Brit Awards to be screened on UKTV in AustraliaBy: Carmine PascuzziThe 2005 Brit Awards will be screened for the first time in Australia on UKTV. The annual event will be screened on Friday, February 11 at 7.00am, then repeated at 9.30pm that night. Hosted by Chris Evans, the BRIT Awards 2005 will feature exclusive performances and unrivalled entertainment. This is the 25th year of ‘The BRITS’ and, to celebrate, an additional awards category will be introduced – The British Live Act Award. Plus, Sir Bob Geldof, the original Boomtown Rat will be presented with The Outstanding Contribution to Music Award. This is a not-to-be-missed entertainment event. Performers announced so far are: Each year, all proceeds from the BRIT Awards go to charity. Chairman of the BPI Peter Jamieson has announced that in 2005 at least half a million pounds raised by the BRITs will be donated to the Asian Tsunami Appeal. The contribution will be managed by the charity Save The Children to fund projects for young people in the hardest hit regions. Below is a full list of categories, and the nominations for each.
