:: Spotlight :: A chat with Dallas CraneBy: Nathaniel DelaneyRecently I met Dallas Crane lead singer Dave Larkin to talk about their upcoming national tour. Dallas Crane is a four-piece rock band from Melbourne. They've recently been on an overseas trip which Dave described as extremely worthwhile and interesting. The band has a new single “God Damn Pride”, just released through SonyBMG and they are set to tour across Australia with their good mates 67 Special and the Super Insurgent Group of Intemperance Talent from early June. Dallas Crane's new single has the fans waiting anxiously to hear the sounds of their traditional dirty rock and roll! Dave saus, “Recording the new single was a load of fun. It took a lot of time and hard work but we got the best out of ourselves to produce what we wanted.” I asked Dave, “You've done many great shows around Australia. How does it feel touring now, compared with the earlier days? He said, "I cant wait. We're going to have a great time on tour with old mates 67 Special and the Super Insurgent Group of Intemperance Talent. I always get a great sense of satisfaction from touring across the country. Playing live is what we're best known for, really.” Dallas Crane has been up and running for a few years now, and consists of Dave Larkin: vocals/guitar, Pete Satchell: guitar/vocals, Pat Bourke: bass, Shan Vanderwert: drums. Dave was asked what tips he might have for new bands or groups thinking of forming a band. He replied, "To get a real job. No really, the music industry is a very hard career and very exhausting. It takes a lot of time and I also asked Dave what the fanbase size was. Dave indicated that it's hard to get a real sense of numbers but it has good support in each State in Australia plus from different areas of the world. The band is still emerging in various territories and he'd like to do more international touring to maximise this as much as possible. The best part about touring internationally? Dave said, “The free alcohol.” The Dallas Crane “God Damn Pride” tour kicks off on June 1 until June 22 with the following dates: Friday, June 1 - Republic Bar, Hobart, TAS ‘God Damn Pride’ limited edition single is out now through SonyBMG. |
