:: Groove Armada to headline Bacardi Express 2009

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

All aboard the BACARDI EXPRESS! Following the success of its debut journey in early 2008, Australia’s touring music festival on rails is back bigger and better. In 2009 UK DJ sensations Groove Armada will be taking the helm as Melbourne and Sydney headliners with more acts to be announced in January. With its iconic 1960’s character fully intact, the BACARDI EXPRESS train will take five bands on a rock and roll adventure of a lifetime from March 26-28, 2009 stopping off to play exclusive concerts in Melbourne, Wagga Wagga, Wollongong and the final destination of Sydney.

Groove Armada, AKA Andy Cato and Tom Findlay formed in 1995 and soon found success with five top selling albums and singles including Grammy nominated “Superstylin” and “Easy”. They have collaborated with some of the highest calibre artists and have a massive worldwide following with Australia being their second biggest market.

Earlier this year Groove Armada signed up for six BACARDI B-LIVE festivals across five continents and an exclusive EP release as part of their unique, groundbreaking global music agreement with BACARDI and BACARDI B-LIVE. BACARDI EXPRESS is the last leg of their worldwide tour and the only place you can catch them performing their enhanced DJ set in Australia this summer.

The band said, “We can’t wait to climb aboard the BACARDI EXPRESS – DJ decks and plenty of time between stations can mean only one thing – fun! It will be great meeting some of our fans and other artists on the train journey before stopping off to play in Melbourne and Sydney."

Only a lucky few will get the chance to join Groove Armada on board the BACARDI EXPRESS by heading to the official website or entering the on pack promotion.

Concert tickets are limited and are set to be the most sought after this summer. Although free, they can only be won through registering online (registration opens early 2009), selected bars and through media partners Channel V.

But for those who miss out, the BACARDI EXPRESS will be filmed and aired on Channel V from May 15, 2009.
