:: Julie Kember is latest singer to entertain Australian troops

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Australian Independent artist Julie Kember is the latest artist to depart for the Middle East as part of a Forces Entertainment tour. She will be accompanied by a Channel Nine film crew that will be covering this tour for A Current Affair, Today Show and other Channel 9 affiliates.

Originally from the small mining town of Eneabba in Northern Western Australia, Julie will certainly be a million miles away from home when she steps onto the stage at various undisclosed locations across the Middle East. She continues a long and illustrious tradition dating back to the Vietnam War of performers travelling to various locations around the world to entertain the serving men and women who put their lives on the line to defend their country.

Julie said, “I am thrilled and excited to be invited to be part of Forces Entertainment and this forthcoming tour. Never did I dream I would be travelling to such a remote region of the world. I look forward to meeting our troops and bringing a little bit of home to them and am very excited about performing my music to such a special audience."

Past performers have included Kylie Minogue, Amy Pearson, Claire Clarke, John Farnham, Russell Crowe, Missy Higgins, Sophie Monk, Doc Neeson, Merrick & Rosso, Something for Kate, James Blundell and Beccy Cole to name a few.

Julie Kember’s single ‘Crazy’ is released on September 6 through MGM. Her album Sugar & Stone will be released in February 2009.
