:: Mercy Arms - debut album and launch tour

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Sydney quartet Mercy Arms have just released their self-titled debut album. They have collaborated with legendary producer Tony Cohen. The band mixed the album in Melbourne with Tony Espie, the man most regarded for his work with The Avalanches and Cut Copy. Mercy Arms have drawn comparison to the classic pop of The Smiths and the noise-guitar mastery of My Bloody Valentine.

Unpredictable, volatile and brilliant, the Mercy Arms' live show has already become part of Australian music's rich underground tapestry. Hypnotic rhythm, deafening fuzz, a singer in Thom Moore who feels every note. Julian Sudek ferociously bashing the skins, Ash Moss weaving intricate basslines, Kirin J. Callinan graciously torturing his guitar like the virtuoso lovechild of Kevin Shields and Ziggy Stardust.

The self titled debut album ‘Mercy Arms’ has been well anticipated and they now set out on a national tour in support of the release.

Launch dates are:
Thursday, August 28 - Lucky Country, Newcastle
Friday, August 29 - Oxford Arts Factory, Sydney
Saturday, August 30 - Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Thursday, September 4, Oxford Tavern, Wollongong
Friday, September 5 - Green Room, Canberra
Thursday, September 11 - Eds Castle, Adelaide
Friday, September 12 - Bakery Artrage , Perth
Saturday, September 13 - Globe Theatre, Brisbane
