:: Operator Please lands advertising deal with Motorola

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

Gold Coast teenagers Operator Please have landed a worldwide advertising campaign with Motorola that will use the band’s single ‘Just A Song About Ping Pong’ to launch a sexy new phone.

The ads look and feel like a music clip and will play globally on television and across the internet. The ad will go to air almost immediately in England and is expected to hit Australia later in the year.

‘Just A Song About Ping Pong’ launched Operator Please to instant fame and won them the 2007 ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist - Single. The band have spent most of 2008 in the UK and Europe and returned home from Japan recently.

The band will now hit the skies and head back to the European Festival Season where they’re booked to play two months of major shows including Glastonbury, Tea In The Park, Lovebox amongst others. Their next Australian live show will be at the sold out Splendour In the Grass Festival, Byron Bay in the first week of August.

Global television campaigns are playing an ever increasing role in launching new artists. Other Australian bands that have broken internationally through these types of campaigns include Wolfmother, The Vines and Jet.
