:: New single for Phrase

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

A necessary rhyme for testing times, ‘Clockwork’ is the latest single from Melbourne rapper Phrase. Since its digital release in late September, the song has cemented Phrase’s position as one of the fastest rising stars on the Aussie music scene, and continues to be one of the most played tracks on triple J radio. A universal tale of being stuck in the rat race and searching for a way out, ‘Clockwork’ is accompanied by a new video which can be viewed online

Signalling the beginning of a more mature sound for the streetwise wordsmith, Phrase is no longer an angry young man demanding respect, now he’s ready to earn it. And earn it he will, as he joins Bliss N Eso for an extensive tour kicking off on October 17 at the Enmore Theatre in Sydney, followed by dates in Townsville, Cairns, Mandurah, Margaret River, and Perth.

Delivering the rhyme for ‘Clockwork’ after long-time collaborator Jan Skubiszewski (Jackson Jackson) handed over the beat, Phrase rose to the challenge of creating something special. ‘Clockwork’ is the first single to be released from his forthcoming album, Burn It Down. Due for release early next year, the album is the long awaited follow up to Phrase’s 2006 debut, Talk With Force, and APRA Award nominated single, ‘Hold On’.
