:: Teenage band The Flairz rock with debut album

By: Carmine Pascuzzi

The Flairz are here to rock with their debut album ‘Black Fox’, which has just been released through their own label Lefroy Records. Recorded in Perth over the last two years at Studio Couch with Shaun O’Callaghan and at Northbridge Studios with John Villani, and produced by Dom Mariani, ‘Black Fox’ is a spirited album featuring ten songs full of style, bravado and rock, the power of the package is undeniable! ‘Mr.Richards’ is the lead single, a powerful tribute to the legendary Keith Richards.

Dion Mariani, John Mariani, Scarlett Stevens and Georgia Wilkinson-Derums are four teens from Perth with rock and roll heritage who like it loud. All only 15 years old, The Flairz have already been together for 5 years. ‘Black Fox’ is Georgia’s debut writing and recording experience having joined The Flairz on bass in 2006. ‘Black Fox’ is The Flairz third release, coming after 2007's Bullseye EP and 2005's Rock And Roll Ain't Evil EP, which was featured as “The Coolest Track in the World” on Little Steven's (Steven Van Zandt) Underground Garage Radio Show in New York which airs to two million American listeners each week.

The Flairz have travelled far and wide … Playing at SXSW in Austin, Texas USA in 2006 to critical acclaim, at The Great Escape Festival in Sydney, at the St Kilda Festival in Melbourne, the Perth Big Day Out, at Bass In The Dust in Alice Springs, Southbound Festival, and played the main stage at The Rock-It Festival in Perth to an audience of thousands. Playing their first show in 2003 supporting Little Birdy, The Flairz have supported the likes of The Living End, Dallas Crane, Shihad, Ben Kweller and The Waifs.
